Committee Members

The following duties apply to all committee members whether “officers” or not.

1. Abide by the Constitution, the Equal Opportunities Statement/Policy and the Code of Conduct

2. Abide by the aims of the group

3. Carry out the tasks allocated to them at Committee meetings

4. Take an active role in committee discussions/votes

5. Deport themselves in a manner befitting a member of the committee

6. Support and encourage other committee members

7. Report to the committee any change in circumstances, which may render a member ineligible to serve on the committee

8. Seek to strengthen the profile of the group in their local community

9. Regularly review all documents to make sure that they remain relevant, up to date and meet members needs

A Good Committee Member Will:

1. Attend meetings regularly and on time (or send apologies)

2. Make positive suggestions at meetings

3. Keep comments short and to the point

4. Listen to others without interrupting

5. Help and support other committee members

6. Carry out tasks assigned to them

7. Speak “through the Chair”

8. Bear in mind the aims of the group

9. Welcome and support new members

10. Accept decisions made by the committee

11. Read minutes and supporting papers before meetings

12. Inform other members of things which might affect the group
